Morgan Remfry

Canada Scholarship

Already holding a diploma in Operations Management from British Columbia Institute of Technology, Morgan hopes to complete his Bachelor of Business Administration degree at the same institute in May of 2011. His emphasis is in supply chain management.

 
          

Qiang Yang

Hooper Memorial Scholarship

A native of Hunan, China, he is pursuing a PhD at the University of Tennessee with an emphasis on traffic safety, having already earned a BS and MS degree in China and was part of a masters’ group at Georgia Institute of Technology specializing in transportation infrastructure.

 
          

Kimberly Jongsma

Alice Glaisyer Warfield
Memorial Scholarship

Kimberly is attending University of Michigan seeking a Masters degree in Urban Planning and Transportation. Starting as a blogger several years ago she is already heavily involved in urban transportation changes in her home city of Grand Rapids.

 
          

Shira Bergstein

Denny Lydic Scholarship

Shira is working on a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning at University of California in Los Angeles with a goal to achieve a unified vision of transportation and develop a plan to guide investments into more environmental and
economically just projects. She has already worked on a US Senate Transportation sub-committee.

 
          

Arthur Zitao Zhang

TCI Valedictorian

A PhD candidate at Northwestern University, Arthur is a three time TCI awardee and is our joint valedictorian for this year. Arthur has co-written a paper entitled “Cost Structure and Tax Issues in effective Public Transportation Investment” which can be made available for anyone who wishes to read.

 
          

Lori Taylor

Texas Transportation Scholarship

Attending Texas A&M University at Galveston, aiming for a BS in Marine Transportation, Lori has her long term sights on port administration, having gained practical experience in ocean-going transportation as an officer aboard ship.

 
          

Diego Canales

Ginger & Fred Deines
Mexico Scholarship

Diego is pursuing a Masters Degree in City Planning at the University of California Berkeley. His personal goal is to work to increase awareness in environmental and transportation behavior to improve the quality of metropolitan Mexico City’s air through reduction of pollution. He also plans to improve the lack of public transportation which limits the socially disadvantaged.

 
          

Johan Ekman

TCI Supply Chain Management

A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Johan attends Florida International University, studying International Business. He is the fifth generation of his family to have worked in the transportation field. His long term goals include a masters degree from either MIT or London School of Business.

 
          

Trisha Cummings

TCI Aviation

Trisha attends Southern Illinois University studying aviation management. She graded out by the selection committee as the best qualified of several candidates following that career. Her emphasis is in air traffic control and she has some demanding goals set for herself in pursuing this.

 
          

Elena Zabolotrii

Ginger & Fred Deines
Canada Scholarship

As one of our valedictorians, Elena is a third time winner. Originally from Moldova, she has been in Canada and attends the University of Regina and works for the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure where she specializes in traffic black spots, a subject on which she has presented papers nationally.
